YSAB reblogged Brothers-Brick

heheh it's like tumblr. Via Timothy Gould of TBB. Spaceship models by Soren Roberts and Rob "DasnewTEN". Here's some earlier work from both builders. It is always interesting how technique develops over time while retaining similar style and aesthetics.

Also I don't know what this is entirely but it's green and has cool wheels.

Thakrar

After a the first progress photos published in mid May, Rob AKA flickr screen name dasnewton presents the finalized version of his first micro scale capital ship:

Absolute baller. Despite all the angles that make Rob's work so unique, there is a very dynamic, cohesive shape to the model which helps pass it along as a larger vessel than the fighters we're use to seeing form him. One of my favorite details is the armored-looking bridge section, practical but not without flare.

Hey, Let's See How Long This Lasts!

I mean this whole regular-posting thing.

While it may be overshadowed by the recent unveiling of Tyler and Nannan's lovechild, Peter Reid's microscale space base deserves attention:

Pierre Fieschi

I featured one of Pierre's builds last month, but since then his new flickr stream has filled up with some great stuff that deserve some coverage.

Most recently is a microspace carrier, which makes ingenious use of odd parts. As stated before the fanboys would go all "NPUUUU". The shape itself is fresh, a tubular shape with some greeblies sticking out the sides and front. Along with interesting textures Pierre incorporates lime as a secondary color, always a nice thing to see.

Pierre was also responsible for some pretty cool vehicular action a short while ago, think Jas Nagra meets Carter Baldwin in terms of style, whom happen to be two of my favorite builders.

Hey, an Update

Craig Lavergne's recent uploads are not only well-built and presented, but accompanied by an intriguing backstory:

And if you've not yet seen Tyler Clite's fabulous walking mech, you're due for a view:

Updates are good.

Shannon Ocean's been up to weird stuffs:

Soren's stylized microspace:

And my own.

Halog

I've been a fan of Martin's microspace, and his latest doesn't disappoint.

He demonstrates color control by managing to sneak in some dark red amidst the greys and the blue, and the textures give it a very "real" aesthetic. This particular model seems to show a leap forward in his photography and presentation as well.

Aliens roundup

It all started when Geoff Herndon built this awesome Alien. then Kevin Fedde built a Power Loader to go with it. The two MOCs certainly look awesome together. The only problem with that is, of course, that the Alien isn't a queen. Wait, I spoke too soon.

Last but certainly not least, in an unrelated incident, "2x4" built a pretty slick Sulaco.

Soren's Fleet Carrier

Okay, Soren has been building awesome stuff for a long time now, but this massive carrier is my favourite yet.

While I only estimate it to be between one and two feet long, the fact that it's between one or two feet of microship makes it huge. I'll add a link to more pictures as soon as he takes them. :D He's added more pictures, just click through his photostream from the main picture.

Tankin' through SPACE...

I wish Soren would upload more than one picture of his models, because they're pure eye candy.

8.12.2008

And today, guns.

Yeah, there have ben some decent models posted today. Some of them are kind of cool. I might even blog one of them if I have to... wait. What's this? Dan Jassim to the rescue!

There is no doubt that his Blacktron Destroyer is worthy of our hall of awesome. In particular, he's used a giant UFO piece on the front; those are hard to incorporate at full-scale, let alone micro.

All I Ask Is A Tall Ship And A Star To Steer Her By.

One of my favorite builders from my early days on CSF is Chris Mallow (porschecm2)
His latest build is this lovely microscale cruiser. My favorite parts are the stripes on the aft, and the indention in the bow. Nice shaping using simple techniques.

And Send All My Loving, Too You.

This microscale creation caught my eye last night, so I resolved to blog it this morning. It really is quite fantastic. The stripe on the front, the greeble section embedded in the nose, and the asymmetry of it all come together in a winning combination.

The Beatles rock.

I'm Just About Blogged Out

But nobody else is on duty today, so I must bring you, our faithful readers, the spacey goodness that the AFOL community has posted today.

This microscale cruiser is chock full of details, but my favorite part is the subtle yet attractive striping on the hull.

Here's Looking At You Kid

I've been meaning to blog this ever since Jacob Blogged Lukas' fleet. Now I'll post mine and Lukas can blog it.

Kassarian Ship Group

Our own Lukas has built the latest fleet in a fad of microspacehips:

I think his may be my favourite collection so far. Good job, Lukas.

Rumors of My Demise Are Hardly Exaggerated.

Utilizing Barnacle pieces in a decisive and creative fashion, BShelf user Brokenegg built this awesome blockade runner

It's schmooth and swoooshy. And, obviously, its ornj.

Catsy's Colonial Voyager

Catsy on CSF has made an awesome microscale 'city in the stars' Voyager ship. Check it out!

Jacob
Occasional driving force of the blog, self-proclaimed Lukas fanboy, and aspiring engineer, Jacob spends too much time building LEGO, not enough time practicing piano, and not nearly enough time doing school. He also enjoys long sentences. In the instance of blogging, he believes in quantity over quality, wherever quantity can be maintained.
Mike
One of the cofounders of YSAB, and the founder of YSA, Observing Mike actually being productive is a rare occasion. Mike enjoys making outlandish claims in relation to actually building, pretending he's actually sorting his collection, and making excuses for why he hasn't photographed his MOCs. In his free time he enjoys learning CSS from Spook, photography and poking badgers with spoons.
Dean
Occasional builder, occasional blogger, and full-time procrastinator. That's really the only way to describe Dean. He rarely gets anything done, but is a very active lurker. He's probably seen and liked your MOC, but just forgot he had a blog.
Erik
Erik is still a teenager.
Lukas
Lukas is tall, blond, mildly OCD, and doesn't build nearly enough as he would like to, thanks to school. He has a webpage.
Spook (Tim)
The resident codemonkey and graphics person. If something isn't working correctly, it's probably his fault. Fitting to his name, he doesn't post often, but someone has to do this stuff too, right? Spook does build with laygoes, and has his own blog as well.
