Civillian Mecha Contest

Fradel over at Mechahub (currently down) is curating a Civillian mecha contest, celebrating all the little mechanical guys in the background who don't shoot things 24/7. Three sizes: Minifig-scale, unmanned, and micro, break into four categories for terrain: land, sea, air, space.

This Mech by Soren Roberts is what I first thought of (minifig-scale, land):

YES IT IS SPACE GO AWAY

Masahiro Yanagi always builds excellent vehicles.

Note that he's gone to the trouble of gearing the wheels together.

Brown and Shiny!

Oh, Truck!

Here's a whole bunch of trucks that use an interesting custom wheel-hub combination.

I can put mine first, because I work here!

Here's a beautiful APC by Carter Baldwin:

A cool truck by Jas Nagra:

An armoured truck by Nick Dean:

And a slightly old, but nevertheless mind-blowing Tatra by Jarek:

Best thing I've seen all week

Adrian Florea never ceases to blow my mind. I normally view lego models as just models, but I say this is Art. Linky.

The Nannan Cycle

I can't imagine how it would steer, but you have to love the integration of the ball element, and the striping is spot-on. Check it.

The Odds Are Against Us...

I mean, when was the last time you saw a website managed by teens make it this far?
And yet, here we are. Still posting to bring YOU, the faithful reader, MOCs you may or may NOT have seen!

TFOL Dr. X has built a nifty little fighter (missile boat?) It can be seen onFlickr
Personally, I've always been one for backstory or details, so I enjoyed reading the description.

Jacob

Occasional driving force of the blog, self-proclaimed Lukas fanboy, and aspiring engineer, Jacob spends too much time building LEGO, not enough time practicing piano, and not nearly enough time doing school. He also enjoys long sentences. In the instance of blogging, he believes in quantity over quality, wherever quantity can be maintained.

Mike

One of the cofounders of YSAB, and the founder of YSA, Observing Mike actually being productive is a rare occasion. Mike enjoys making outlandish claims in relation to actually building, pretending he's actually sorting his collection, and making excuses for why he hasn't photographed his MOCs. In his free time he enjoys learning CSS from Spook, photography and poking badgers with spoons.

Dean

Occasional builder, occasional blogger, and full-time procrastinator. That's really the only way to describe Dean. He rarely gets anything done, but is a very active lurker. He's probably seen and liked your MOC, but just forgot he had a blog.

Erik

Erik is still a teenager.

Lukas

Lukas is tall, blond, mildly OCD, and doesn't build nearly enough as he would like to, thanks to school. He has a webpage.

Spook (Tim)

The resident codemonkey and graphics person. If something isn't working correctly, it's probably his fault. Fitting to his name, he doesn't post often, but someone has to do this stuff too, right? Spook does build with laygoes, and has his own blog as well.
