Yet another mecha, but this time good

It's been a while since I blogged something by Tim:

I daresay he's picked up the talent for creating naturally-shaped mecha that is normally reserved for the famed Japanese builders.

CSF Buggy Group Build

Look! A blog post that isn't about a MOC!

Are you lacking inspiration to build? If that's the case, you might benefit from heading over to the Classic Space Forums and participating in the (unofficially named) CSF Buggy Group Build. The concept is that everyone builds a MOC off of the same concept art, and at the end, everyone can compare how they each interpreted it, and the techniques used to build it, etc, and thus hopefully become a better builder. There have been other group builds on CSF in the past, and they have all turned out some very interesting MOCs. There is no deadline, so if you have some time, why not head over to the build thread and try it?

I Call it "Forceful Reconnaissance"

Tim Zarki (Spook) built an awesome Recon Boat.

In typical Spook fashion, he makes this simple MOC chock full of detail, and beautifully colored. One of these days, they will develop a way to extract talent, and then, then Spook will be in trouble.....

See Ess

Peter Reid brings us yet another dose of Classic Space themed goodness with the LL124. There are so many cool things about this MOC, such as the x-pod cockpit, and the heavily greebled underbelly. See for yourself!

Fire when ready!

I'm not normally into Star Trek stuff, but this lego-fied version of a Romulan Warbird is the best I've ever seen. Kudos to brickshelf user AdmiralStupid who built it. :)

Alternate title: I wish I had this many green pieces

(I assume it's new since it was in recent folders on BS >.>)

.mmm.

Brickshelf user kwi-chang built an awesome mech. It's like... duuuuuude. Wooooaaaahhh. Maaaaannn... If you stare at it long enough you'll see what I mean..

Pugiunculus Support Mech by Arpy

What a lucky frog, Ensign Tupperware is, to be put behind the controls of such a beautious machine. Ahh, I can hear the Hyoomins screaming in fear just looking at it.

jehkay

(jumping in on the posting bandwagon today :D)

If you are unaware of the builder jehkay, you should really go check out his MOCs on flickr. While his building style may seem a bit busy and studdy at times, it's very unique and his mecha are always awesome, not to mention loaded with personality. I also am envious of his amazingly clear and well-lit photography. So yeah, go look. Right now. I demand it.

To the right is his latest mech.

Next-gen

I would like to announce the true up-ness of another communal building website including me and a couple other members of this blog; Next-Gen

Yup :D

"I'm Not Dead Yet"

Moyblik ain't dead, it's just erratic. I've been posting on Snoikle some, so that took a bit of my thunder from this place.
So anywho....Jackson 5 rocks. I just picked up the "Ultimate Collection" CD, and man I love it. Yay motown!!
Oh....lego.....right.
Spook is such a jerk. Can't you just quit being awesome?
Jerrac built a pretty cool fighter.

Khet Nasari Relic

Spook (who left us for his own blog, the traitor!) has an it's-so-awesome-I-think-my-pants-just-exploded space ship, titled the "Khet Nasari Relic."
Basically, it's an old-skool ghost ship wandering space on it's own accord. With no crew. A big Gun. And a small bit that broke off (but stays with the main body!!1!!!111!)

Anyway, a nice backstory, and an even nicer micro spacecraft. Nice shaping with the wedge plates, and the colors are simple but beautiful.

Moon Rover Contest: WINNER!

After much impatient waiting, and much decision making by the judges, the winner of the epic Moon Rover Contest on CSF has been announced!

...And it's me!

I'm sure it was no easy choice for the judges, as there were many many awesome entries. I think everyone deserved to win, but alas it doesn't work that way... hehehe

Also: My first blog post! Yay! :D

Spook Does it Again

Let's see, between the excellent color combination and placement, killer detail, and very helpful and detailed schematic, I think Tim may just win.

On a different note, I think I may be hanging up my Blogger hat for a while. See, CSF used to be one of my favorite places on the web. With all the recent drama and flaming, and the even more recent onslaught of *ahem* n00bs, I'm just not feeling it as much. I just find myself lacking the desire to visit the site as much.
2) There are plenty of blogs that highlight MOCs, and Moyblik will continue to be one, I'm sure.
3) Oddly, I don't find myself on the verge of a dark age, I've been building more in the past three days than I had in the past month. I'm just losing interest in this blog. So maybe I'll be around, but I won't guarantee it.

The CSF Moon Rover Contest

As I mentioned in my last post, Aaron Sneary has a Moon Buggy contest going on, and the entries are excellent:

  • Nick was the first to whip up an entry, and is now remaking it. I like the stoutness and heavy-duty ness of it.
  • Spook (who needs to post :O) made a wonderfully greeb'd open-cockpit buggy
  • Legohaulic has an awesome "Moon Jalopy" using ingenious inside-out wheels.
  • Mork has a beautiful Classic-space colored bumbling buggy.
  • Adrian Florea has a cute speedy-looking buggy, with wheels like Legohaulic's. He doesn't seem to want to enter it though...
  • Mr. Sneary himself has a rover, but it won't be entered, it's just a posterboy :D
I think after all the wheeled things he's made, otto should enter something!

On the other hand, I think I want to give Moyblik a customized banner. Any ideas for a background image, our trusty fans? :P

of planks and dogs: the BeamHound

That's what the ever-popular spook's latest is called. Romholler L-AF BeamHound, to be precise. In his words,

The Romholler Yards Laser Assault Frigate, dubbed the BeamHound, is basically a large gun with an engine and bridge strapped to it.

I'm really liking this one. Spook seems to have succeeded in his mission of "color blocking and unblocking and such." The blocking is nice, as exemplified by the large red areas on both sides. The "unblocking," as he so amusingly dubs it, is also very well executed, although I can't help but think that it would have been a bit better still if he'd used a few less colors. It is, nevertheless, an excellent MOC.

Now let's just hope Spook hasn't already blogged it for himself.

Spook is here!

Hi guys.

I just wanted to let you all know that Lukas invited me to be a contributer. (In case he did this without telling you, or something.) So...yeah. Maybe I can help a little with the declining posts per month, eh? :D

Jacob
Occasional driving force of the blog, self-proclaimed Lukas fanboy, and aspiring engineer, Jacob spends too much time building LEGO, not enough time practicing piano, and not nearly enough time doing school. He also enjoys long sentences. In the instance of blogging, he believes in quantity over quality, wherever quantity can be maintained.
Mike
One of the cofounders of YSAB, and the founder of YSA, Observing Mike actually being productive is a rare occasion. Mike enjoys making outlandish claims in relation to actually building, pretending he's actually sorting his collection, and making excuses for why he hasn't photographed his MOCs. In his free time he enjoys learning CSS from Spook, photography and poking badgers with spoons.
Dean
Occasional builder, occasional blogger, and full-time procrastinator. That's really the only way to describe Dean. He rarely gets anything done, but is a very active lurker. He's probably seen and liked your MOC, but just forgot he had a blog.
Erik
Erik is still a teenager.
Lukas
Lukas is tall, blond, mildly OCD, and doesn't build nearly enough as he would like to, thanks to school. He has a webpage.
Spook (Tim)
The resident codemonkey and graphics person. If something isn't working correctly, it's probably his fault. Fitting to his name, he doesn't post often, but someone has to do this stuff too, right? Spook does build with laygoes, and has his own blog as well.
