That is the laconic collection of words I would use to describe this moon rover by Jordan Schwartz:



He based the rover off of this design, and motorized it, as well:

They are especially apt in this situation, as Tyler has made a fantastic PF-BTF-DeLorean (it's funny that I saved so much of your time by using those abbreviations, but am now making you read this stupid sidenote).

Just a Notice

Everyone seems to be very excited over at TBB about the 2009 sets leak, but all the talk has been pirates, farmers, blah blah blah...



HAS NO ONE SEEN THIS?

Here's what I think.

1. It's clearly labeled an RC car. That means powered drive and steering.

2. The floating hands are controlling the car via a PF remote, and you can see the IR receiver poking up just in front of the rear spoiler.

3. The chassis is only eight studs wide. There is only one kind of motor you can fit in that kind of space and still have room for all of the detailing on top (in addition to a battery pack):

In other news, izzo has uploaded pictures of his third Bipedal (seen here next to a Square Suit :3). Also, it appears as though Brickshelf user "sky820923" has gotten his hands on some of LEGO's new linear actuators, and even tried them out!

Blue Sun Mini Truck

... At least, I think that's what it's called. It was a bit hard to glean that much information from gtahelper's gallery, but this vehicle is too good to pass up. Check it out and see for yourself:

LTM1050, Minifig-Scale

Believe me, it's a tricky feat to pull off. The talented Polish builder "benny80" has made another minifig-scale mobile crane. Extending boom with winch and fake cylinder? Check. Turntable and tilting operator cab? Check. Four wheel steering and outriggers? Check. Paranoid picture-blurring? Also.... check.

Bringing Technic to New Heights

... yeah. Anyway, I thought I got weekends off. Oh well.



Sariel does it again with his new forklift. Sure, plenty of mechanical forklifts have been made out of LEGO before, but none of them have the same polish as Sariel's. As the data states above, this bulid has four PF motors powering drive, steering, tilt, and lift functions. As is to be expected, Sariel has included a link to a youtube video with music that doesn't quite fit, but shows the model's abilities quite nicely.

Opel Rekord C Coupe

No witty post title today...



Ivan Franciskovic (that's what the copyright says, anyway) has built an excellent rendition of Opel's Rekord C Coupe. Although it is in a fairly monotonous grey, the subtle uses of plate shaping and snot are very effective. It isn't just a pretty face, though; it's fully mechanical. I see PF-powered rear wheel drive with independent pneumatic suspension and Ackerman steering geometry. Neat, eh? It also looks like Ivan is preparing the gallery for a whole lot more documentation, which will hopefully include more detailed pictures of the chassis. I'll add any updates as a postscript to a future post.

This, That, and the Other Thing.

Apparently, the shape of a bull moose's palmate antlers contributes to it's incredible sense of hearing. Okay, let's go!




Mark Strafford's Sprocket Guard Clockbot instills both wonder and fear in me. Maybe it's those eyes, or the functional cannons, but I just can't imagine that these guys would have a hard time going haywire and shooting up the palace. Look at the parts usage here- the tap detail on the back is especially cool.

Brickshelfer Jasperitis, progenitor of more than a few military vehicles, has discovered my suspension study. He's making good use of it and crediting to boot! So, I'd like to give a shout out to Jasperitis to thank him for making use of my ideas- thanks!

A Faun with a Bit More Pulling Power.

Mention Sariel to me, and I think of the masterful Technic builder. Today, Sariel brings us the Faun SLT Elefant- in other words, a bigarse transport truck.



One of the greatest features of the Faun is not the model itself, but the exhaustive presentation that accompanies it. This is one regard in which Sariel has shown himself to be a master. I could drone on at some length about all of the features of this model, but the builder does a pretty good job of showing it all.

Also, check out the way the suspension works on this 6x6 WIP. Weird!
