Returns

Lenny Hoffman, a very prolific space builder from several years back has some new robot themed build on his flickr stream. Check 'em.



Also returning from a hiatus is smod, who had posted some cool stuff a year back or so. However he says that he's moved beyond the plastic hobby, and this post is more of a farewell:

"The little boy inside me who loves his Lego has pretty much gone so this is probably the last MOC you'll see from me in a long time. but on a brighter note I'm thinking about turning this account into a more art orientated one.. we'll see."

I look forward to seeing some of his art-related uploads in the future.

In terms of MOC production, I think Fredoichi has reached the same level of productivity to the likes of Jordan Schwartz and nnenn. Fredo has often been compared to the latter for his similar style, although I think his models stand out in that he masterfully uses the textures of parts to greeble-out his creations while nnenn experiments more with overall form. They're alike and different at the same time, and while nnenn's designs were innitially more impressive, there's nothing to hate about the newer builder's stuff.



As of late Fredo's been the man to see when it comes to small mecha. Check out his site.

Pierre Fieschi

I featured one of Pierre's builds last month, but since then his new flickr stream has filled up with some great stuff that deserve some coverage.

Most recently is a microspace carrier, which makes ingenious use of odd parts. As stated before the fanboys would go all "NPUUUU". The shape itself is fresh, a tubular shape with some greeblies sticking out the sides and front. Along with interesting textures Pierre incorporates lime as a secondary color, always a nice thing to see.



Pierre was also responsible for some pretty cool vehicular action a short while ago, think Jas Nagra meets Carter Baldwin in terms of style, whom happen to be two of my favorite builders.

An experimental rescue VTOL by Pierre Fieschi, who also is responsible for some cool microspace action. And seeing as we've blogged VTOLs here before, it fits. The model itself is pretty darn spiffy, built at a smaller scale than we're accustomed to seeing, about half mini-fig scale. Check out some of clever part applications, if Pierre had fanboys they'd be goin all "OMG NPUUUU" and the like.

There's also another challenge in the Starfighters group. You don't win anything but you get the good feeling of participation. If my own personal ABS wasn't packed away I'd bust something out.
